Pre-Start and Design Reviews

Getting Off to the Right Pre-Start

Choice Words

There’s engineering and then there’s health and safety engineering.

  • Engineering is about designing things to work right.
  • Health and safety engineering is about understanding why the things engineers designed to work right didn’t – and how someone did or could get hurt as a result. And then applying that learning to prevention or to forensic investigation.

The need for preventive expertise and review is built into the Ontario Health & Safety Act’s requirement for Pre-Start Reviews. The act requires an engineer to review, assess and certify key safety features and controls.

The choice of engineer is up to you.

That choice comes down to choosing someone who does heath and safety on the side vs. a team who specializes in learning from the mistakes of others and concentrates exclusively on health and safety issues.

Expertise on the Line

The GK team has the full-spectrum H&S expertise to determine whether it’s designed right: whether your matter is managing flammable liquid in an industrial process.  Deploying a robotic arm in a manufacturing setting. Or something very rarefied.

We can also help you design the safest Emergency Response Program in case things go wrong and you need to implement continuity and recovery plans.
