Multidisciplinary and Multifaceted
Specialized Expertise and Multidisciplinary Teams – Whatever Your Case Requires
The real world is complex. Failures, accidents and injuries often have many causes, and can be
governed by many regulations, common practices and legal precedents.
Large sums of money – and the course of people’s lives – often turn on the outcome of forensic expertise.
In such a world, generalized knowledge has little place. Investigators must really know their stuff and be adept at working in teams to track the trail of evidence to the true causes.
That’s why we are committed to hiring great depth of expertise in each discipline and why we have become Canada’s largest multidisciplinary forensic engineering and sciences firm.
Prevention – Worth Every Penny
Because we’ve too often seen the causes of failure, accidents and injury, we understand how best to prevent these.
Preventive investigations have often been seen as luxuries – nice to have, but definitely not in the budget. However, with the extent and frequency of claims, prevention is increasing recognized as a medicine worth paying for.
GK expertise can help you reduce risk by reviewing structures, materials, processes and contingency plans.
Investigation – Advocating the Truth
The value of investigations rests in their veracity, in accuracy and completeness. Our goal is to get at the truth so you are better prepared to manage your case, to negotiate a proper settlement or proceed to trial.
Remediation: What’s Really in the Fix
Each area of investigation has its own issues and regulatory context, but they all share certain issues and concerns:
- What are the limits of my liability? And what could the consequences be if the structure or site is not remediated properly? For example, might this contamination cross the boundary line?
- What is salvageable and what it not? And how do we know for sure?
- Should we return the structure or site to its original condition – or are the inherent flaws that should be corrected or inherent opportunities for improvement that should be seized? And how do we know for sure?
- Can I get the same result for less cost – is there a better way to engineer the fix? For example, in some cases of environmental contamination, doing nothing can be better than doing something.
- What happens if we discover something unexpected along the way?
By working closely with client and contractors, GK can help develop a technically sound, economically prudent plan that delivers optimal benefits to owners and users of structures and properties.
